な (Do not)
Do not, Don't (Prohibitive)
JLPT N5
Pattern
Verb (dictionary form) + な
How it works
Dictionary form + な is a blunt command not to do something: 入るな (Keep out!). You'll see it on signs or hear it in rough speech. In polite speech, use ないでください.
Examples
- ここに 入るな。Don't come in here!
- わすれるな。Don't forget!
