Noun + が + predicate

How it works

が marks the subject, especially new information or the answer to a question word (だれが, どれが). It is also used with ある/いる, すき/きらい, じょうず/へた and わかる, where English uses an object.

Examples

  • だれが 来ましたか。Who came?
  • つくえの 上に ねこが います。There is a cat on the desk.
  • わたしは すしが すきです。I like sushi.
