う-verb: 書く → 書きます

How it works

う-verbs (godan verbs) end in an -u sound. For the ます-form, change the last sound to its -i version: 書く → 書きます, 飲む → 飲みます, 話す → 話します.

Examples

  • 友だちに 手紙を 書く。I write a letter to a friend.
  • まいにち 水を 飲みます。I drink water every day.
