のがへた (To be bad at)
To be bad at, Poor at, Unskillful
JLPT N5
Pattern
Verb (dictionary form) + のがへた
How it works
へた is a な-adjective meaning “bad at”. With a verb, add のが: うたうのがへた (bad at singing). With a noun, use が: りょうりがへた. It's blunt about other people, so it's mostly used about yourself.
Examples
- わたしは うたを うたうのが へたです。I'm bad at singing.
- えを かくのが へたです。I'm poor at drawing.
