なぜ + question
How it works
なぜ means “why”. It is more formal and written than どうして and なんで. Questions with なぜ often end in んですか or のですか.
Examples
- なぜ 日本語を べんきょうして いるのですか。Why are you studying Japanese?
- なぜ おくれたのですか。Why were you late?
