な-Adjective だ (な-Adjective (Predicate))
な-Adjective (Predicate)
JLPT N5
Pattern
Noun + は + な-adjective + だ / です
How it works
At the end of a sentence a な-adjective drops な and takes だ (plain) or です (polite): この町はしずかだ. Its negative is じゃない and its past is だった, just like a noun.
Examples
- この 町は しずかだ。This town is quiet.
- 山田さんは しんせつです。Ms. Yamada is kind.
