Noun + は + い-adjective (+ です)

How it works

An い-adjective can end a sentence by itself: このへやはひろい. Adding です only makes it polite; it does not add meaning. Do not put だ after an い-adjective.

Examples

  • この へやは ひろい。This room is spacious.
  • 日本語は おもしろいです。Japanese is interesting.
