Sentence + か

How it works

Adding か to the end of a polite sentence turns it into a question. Japanese does not use a question mark in formal writing; the か does the job. Casual speech often uses rising intonation without か.

Examples

  • あなたは 学生ですか。Are you a student?
  • コーヒーを 飲みますか。Will you drink coffee?
