～い adjective

How it works

い-adjectives end in い and change their own ending to show tense and negation: たかい → たかくない → たかかった. They go directly before a noun (たかい本) and before です without changing.

Examples

  • この かばんは たかいです。This bag is expensive.
  • あたらしい くつを 買いました。I bought new shoes.
