これ (This)
This
JLPT N5
Pattern
これ (pronoun)
How it works
これ means “this (one)”: something near the speaker. It stands on its own as a noun, so it takes particles directly (これは, これを). To put “this” before a noun, use この instead.
Examples
- これは わたしの 本です。This is my book.
- これを ください。I'll take this one, please.
