はずがない (Hardly possible)
Hardly possible, Cannot be, Highly unlikely, Improbable
JLPT N4
Pattern
Plain form + はずがない
How it works
はずがない means “there's no way ~ / it can't be”, a strong denial based on reasoning: かれがうそをつくはずがない (there's no way he'd lie).
Examples
- かれが そんな ことを 言う はずが ない。There's no way he'd say something like that.
- この 問題が そんなに かんたんな はずが ない。This problem can't be that easy.
