てから (Once...is done)
Once...is done, Once...happens, After doing
JLPT N5
Pattern
Verb (て-form) + から
How it works
て-form + から means “after doing A, (then) B” or “since doing A”. It stresses that A comes first. Do not confuse it with plain form + から, which means “because”.
Examples
- しゅくだいを して から、テレビを 見ます。I'll watch TV after doing my homework.
- 日本に 来て から、いろいろな 店で 食べました。Since coming to Japan, I've eaten at all kinds of places.
