る-verb: ～る → ～た
How it works
To put a る-verb in the plain past, replace る with た: 食べる → 食べた, 見る → 見た. The polite past is ます-stem + ました: 食べました.
Examples
- きのう すしを 食べた。I ate sushi yesterday.
- あさ 6時に おきた。I got up at 6 this morning.
