きらい (Dislike)
Dislike, Not fond of
JLPT N5
Pattern
Noun + が + きらい(だ)
How it works
きらい is a な-adjective meaning “disliked”. Like 好き, the object takes が. It is quite strong; あまり好きじゃない (I don't really like it) sounds softer.
Examples
- わたしは やさいが きらいです。I dislike vegetables.
- きらいな 食べ物は ありますか。Is there any food you dislike?
