けれども (But)
But, Although
JLPT N5
Pattern
Plain/polite form + けれども
How it works
けれども means “but / although”. It is the full, more polite form of けど and suits writing and careful speech. Like が, it can also introduce a topic softly.
Examples
- この 本は 高いけれども、おもしろいです。This book is expensive, but it's interesting.
- すみませんけれども、駅は どこですか。Excuse me, but where is the station?
