Verb[て] + B (Reasons and Causes)
And・and so, Due to, Because of, Since, Conjunctive
JLPT N4
Pattern
Verb / adjective (て-form) + result
How it works
The て-form can give a cause: “A, and so B”. The result is usually a feeling or a state, not a request: 大きすぎて入らない (it's too big, so it won't fit).
Examples
- すいかが 大きすぎて、れいぞうこに 入らない。The watermelon is too big to fit in the fridge.
- かぜを ひいて、学校を 休みました。I caught a cold, so I stayed off school.
