Verb + にいく (To go ~)
To go ~, To go in order to ~
JLPT N5
Pattern
Verb (ます-stem) + に + 行く/来る
How it works
Put the ます-stem before に to give the purpose of going or coming: 見に行く (go to see), 買いに来る (come to buy). With する-nouns you can use the noun directly: かいものに行く.
Examples
- えいがを 見に 行きました。I went to see a movie.
- デパートへ かいものに 行きます。I'm going shopping at the department store.
