でしょう (Right?)
Right?, Probably, Isn't it?
JLPT N5
Pattern
Plain form + でしょう
How it works
でしょう means “probably” when guessing, as in weather forecasts. With rising intonation it asks for agreement: “right?”. It follows plain verbs and い-adjectives, and replaces だ after nouns and な-adjectives.
Examples
- あしたは 雨でしょう。It will probably rain tomorrow.
- この 本、おもしろいでしょう?This book is interesting, right?
