Name / content + という + Noun
How it works
という links a name or content to a noun: 「ポチ」という犬 (a dog called Pochi), 雨がふるという話 (a story that it will rain). It's also used to ask meanings: どういう意味.
Examples
- わたしの 家には 「ポチ」と いう 犬が います。We have a dog called Pochi at home.
- 「やさしい」と いう 意味です。It means “kind”.
