Verb (て-form) + おく
How it works
ておく means doing something in advance for later (予約しておく, book ahead), or leaving something as it is (あけておく, leave it open). In speech it often becomes とく: 買っとく.
Examples
- りょこうの 前に ホテルを 予約して おきます。I'll book a hotel before the trip.
- まどを あけて おいて ください。Please leave the window open.
