How it works

それで means “and so / because of that”, linking a cause to its result. As a question (それで？) it means “and then?”, urging the speaker on.

Examples

電車がおくれました。それで、ちこくしました。The train was delayed. That's why I was late.
「きのう田中さんに会ったよ。」「それで？」“I met Tanaka yesterday.” “And then?”
