なん + counter + か
How it works
なん + counter + か means “some / several”: 何回か (several times), 何人か (a few people). Without か, it's a question: 何回 (how many times?).
Examples
- 日本へは 何回か 行った ことが あります。I've been to Japan several times.
- 何人か 学生が 休んで います。A few students are absent.
