This policy explains how Doolulu ("we", "us", and "our") handles personal information when you use our website and Japanese-language study tools. It covers visitors, guest learners, and registered users. For questions about this policy or your information, contact team@rascalrabbit.co.

• Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and authentication information. Password-based accounts use a password hash. If you sign in with Google, we receive account identifiers and profile information such as your name, email, and profile image, and store authentication tokens needed for that connection.
• Study activity. We store exam attempts, selected answers, attempt times, and saved vocabulary so you can use study features and review your progress. Some practice progress stays in your browser.
• Guest sessions. Studying without registering may create a guest identifier and session. Guest exam attempts can be connected to your account when you register or sign in.
• Technical and usage information. Session records may include your IP address and browser information. Our infrastructure and analytics services may process page views, interactions, device information, referring pages, errors, and events such as signing in or submitting an exam.
• Messages you send us. If you contact us, we receive your contact details and anything you include in your message. Please do not send passwords or other sensitive information.

We use information to create and maintain accounts, authenticate users, save study activity, display results, support vocabulary features, respond to requests, troubleshoot errors, and protect the website from misuse. We also use usage information to understand which features help learners and improve the service.

Where applicable data-protection law requires a legal basis, providing requested account and study features is based on performing our agreement with you; security, support, and service improvement rely on legitimate interests where permitted; and legally required processing relies on legal obligations. Where consent is required for a particular use, that use requires your consent, which you can withdraw.

We use cookies to maintain sessions and remember sign-in information. Browser local storage remembers preferences such as your theme and stores some practice answers and in-progress exam information.

When analytics is enabled, we use PostHog to measure visits, interactions, study events, and application errors. Analytics identifiers can connect activity across visits. For signed-in users, we associate analytics with your user ID, name, and email; earlier guest activity may also be linked to that account.

You can block cookies or clear website storage in your browser. This may sign you out, reset preferences, or remove progress stored only on your device. Clearing browser storage does not delete information already held on our servers or by analytics providers. Contact us about requests relating to that information.

We use service providers to host the website, store data and media, support sign-in, and analyze usage. These include Neon for database and media storage, Google when you choose Google sign-in, and PostHog when analytics is enabled. Hosting and delivery providers also process technical information needed to serve the website.

We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, or defend legal rights. If the service is transferred to a new operator, information needed to operate it may be transferred as part of that change, subject to applicable law.

Providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws can differ. Where required, international transfers must use safeguards recognized by applicable data-protection law. You can contact us for information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your data.

Account and study records are kept while needed to provide your account and learning history. Retention also depends on the type of information, security needs, unresolved requests or disputes, and legal obligations. Some records may remain in backups or provider systems for their applicable retention cycles after removal from active systems.

Signing out or allowing a session to expire does not delete your account or study history. Browser-stored information remains until it is replaced, removed by the app, or cleared in your browser.

We use authentication and access controls to protect information, but no internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your sign-in details private and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

You can browse public study resources without a registered account, remove words from your saved vocabulary, and clear locally stored data through your browser. To request access, correction, a copy of your information, or deletion of your account and associated data, email team@rascalrabbit.co. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to restrict processing, transfer your data, withdraw consent, and complain to your local data-protection authority. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions.

You may have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact us to raise an objection or ask how it applies to your information.

If you are not old enough to consent to the use of your information or enter into an agreement where you live, a parent or guardian must be involved before you create an account. If you believe a child has provided personal information without the permission required by law, contact team@rascalrabbit.co so we can investigate and address it.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the website or communicated through another appropriate channel, and additional notice or consent will be provided where required.
