Place + で + Verb

How it works

で marks where an action happens. に marks where something exists (ある/いる) or the destination of movement. So 図書館で本を読む (read in the library), but 図書館に本がある (books are in the library).

Examples

  • レストランで ばんごはんを 食べました。I had dinner at a restaurant.
  • どこで その カメラを 買いましたか。Where did you buy that camera?
