かな (I wonder)
I wonder
JLPT N4
Pattern
Plain form + かな
How it works
かな at the end of a sentence means “I wonder”. It is casual and often spoken to yourself. With ないかな it expresses a hope: 早く来ないかな (I wish they'd come soon).
Examples
- あした 雨が ふるかな。I wonder if it'll rain tomorrow.
- この 答えで いいかな。I wonder if this answer is right.
